The Netherlands can make roads out of plastic

Degradation of roads made from stone, asphalt concrete requires long-term maintenance, increasing costs, and hindering traffic when it is necessary to dig deeply, many physical machines to repair. So why not use other materials for road construction?

Working with the city government of Rotterdam (Netherlands), the VolkerWessels company proposed this option. Accordingly, the company wants to develop and build roads made of plastic plastic, materials commonly found in everyday objects such as water bottles, children's toys ...

This design includes a hollow frame, inside which contains pipes and wiring for electricity, water, internet ... While the project has not been tested yet, the company said the plastic road will be maintained. Much simpler than the traditional stone and asphalt sugar.

While VolkerWessels' new type of technology isn't feasible right now, it also helps show that there are new ways to move towards simplifying the process of road construction and maintenance.
